Education: higher education. Graduated from Kirov Kazakh State University in 1976, in 1997 graduated from East Kazakhstan State University.

Professional activity: lecturer, docent, Head of Chair, First vice-rector, rector of the East Kazakhstan State University (1973-1995), Deputy akim of the East Kazakhstan region, sector leader of Internal Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1995-1998), President of the Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism (since 1998), chief editor of scientific-theoretical journal “Theory and Methods of Physical Culture” (since 1998), member of editorial board of the International Scientific and Theoretical Journal “Science and Sport: Current Trends”.

Prof. K.K.Zakiryanov’s primary fields of expertise, his academic interests and achievements: in algebra and mathematical logic he proved that symplectic groups over algebraic numbers’ rings have the finite width. This theorem has received the name “Zakiryanov’s Theorem”. In pedagogy – on the example of the East Kazakhstan University, he developed the theoretical bases of the Kazakhstan educational system transition to the Western multistage education system “Bachelor – Master – Doctor PhD”; becoming the head of the Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism, he improved the specialization training of a new breed in various areas for the sphere of physical culture and sport. K.K. Zakiryanov made a great contribution to the development of student and Olympic sports, the strengthening of international relations in the field of education, science and sports, the promotion of the values and ideals of the Olympic sport, the introduction of means and methods of physical culture and sports in the system of improving the population, improving the selection system of gifted children in sports and the preparation of a sports reserve. He also made a great contribution in historical studies of the Kazakh people.

The results of his research, professional and public activities are published in more than 100 scientific works, monographs, in the mass media and are introduced into the practice of student and Olympic sports, at the preparation of Kazakhstan’s national teams for participation in the Olympic Games, World Universiades, World Championships.

K.K. Zakiryanov regularly performs with plenary lectures at International Scientific Congresses “Olympic sport and sport for all”, International Conferences “University sport: Health and prosperity of a nation” and actively participates in other major international scientific events.

Zakiryanov K.K. is one of the developers of the State Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011-2015, the Concept for the Development of School and Student Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2014-2020.

K.K. Zakiryanov  makes a significant contribution to the implementation of the state policy for the development of mass children’s and youth sports and sports of higher achievements. He has created 6 registered academies for the gifted children in the sport of the Olympic champions, in which more than 500 children are engaged.

Under his leadership, as the President of Student Sports Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan’s national student teams have won 24 gold, 39 silver, 47 bronze medals and today, they are entered in the twenty of the strongest student teams of the world.

He is an initiator of creation and the President of the International Association of the Physical Culture and Sport Universities which unites 56 leading sports universities of the world community countries. K.K. Zakiryanov, as the President of the International Association of the Physical Culture and Sport Universities, established close partnership relations with the International University Sport Federation and the International Olympic Committee.

Annualy, the Association in different countries of the world, under the patronage of the Head of State and the President of the IOC, holds the International Scientific Congress “Olympic Sport and Sport for All”. K.K. Zakiryanov is the organizer of this Congress in Almaty in 2004, 2009, 2014. On his initiative, the International Conference of Students and Young Scientists “University Sports: Health and Prosperity of the Nation” has held since 2011 under the patronage of the International University Sport Federation (FISU).

He made a special contribution to the conquest of the right to host the World Winter Universiade 2017 in Almaty.

Professor K.K. Zakiryanov deeply studying and widely promulgates the history and culture of the Kazakh people on the world stage. He is the author of three monographs that were published in three languages and were presented at the Royal Geographical Society of Great Britain and the British Library of London. For his scientific works, he received gratitude from the Library of Congress, the National Library of Japan, the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Rewards and honorary degree

National awards and Kazakhstan honorary degree: I. Altynsarin’s medal, jubilee medals “10 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2001), “10 years of the Constitution of Kazakhstan” (2005), “20 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2011); honorary degree: “Honoured Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “Honoured Worker of Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “Honoured Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, “For merits in tourism development”, “Honoured Worker of Tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, badge of honor of the RK National Olympic Committee, awarded the “Abylai Khan” order.

He was awarded the title of “Colonel of the Kentucky State”, conferred him by the Governor of the Brereton State by S. Johns for the establishment of the Kazakh-American Free University in Ust-Kamenogorsk. In 2014 he was awarded the high title “Knight of the Genghis Khan Order”, established by the descendants of noble families of Great Rome and Great Byzantium.
